Our priority area lead on Urban Risk Reduction and Resilience, Build Change organized a series of essential and informative webinars last July as part of their continuing efforts to mainstream resilient housing. In celebration of the 2021 National Disaster Resilience Month, Build Change reiterated its call to Build Safer Homes, Change for Better Lives through these webinars.
The first of the series was held last July 8 and was focused on technology. Titled “Framework Housing – Case Studies from Asia and Latin America, the webinar featured various aspects of implementing strategies for resilient housing in the Philippines and the rest of the world.
Last July 22, Build Change capped the month long series with their speaker series “Showcasing Best Practices of Inclusivity and Resilience where they invited resiliency champions from non-profit, advocacy, community and professional organizations. The sharing and insights from the speakers centered on addressing the three main barriers that Build Change identified in building resilient structures — people, money, and technology. More importantly, the webinar featured the different ways that invited speakers have effectively involved community stakeholders in decision making that impacts them.
