Women Leaders in Building Disaster Resilience

In celebration of the National Women’s Month, ARISE-Philippines in collaboration with SM Cares and Resilient.Ph organized a two hour online public forum highlighting women leaders in the field of disaster resilience.

The Women Leaders in Building Disaster Resilience (WLBDR) Forum is the first public event of ARISE-Philippines for 2021 and it brought together local and international women leaders who shared their insights and experiences in their respective disaster management roles.

Conducted online via Zoom, the forum held last March 31, 2021 featured talks from Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga (National Resilience Council), Engr. Liza Silerio (SM Prime Holdings/ARISE Global), Adelina Kamal (AHA Center) and Atty. Lesley Cordero (World Bank) plus a keynote message from Mami Mizutori (UNDRR).

While designed to cover the four phases of disaster management — prevention, preparation, response and recovery, the talks were centered on the role of women and women leaders in building resilience.

Total registrants was 322 with actual participants in the zoom at 178 or a 55.2% participation rate, and with about 90% retention rate (percentage of participants who   stayed on until the end of the program).

The livestream on Resilient.PH’s Facebook page has so far reached 9,357 people with over 1,600 views and 31 shares.
