Disaster Resilience Champion: VADM Alexander Pama Receives “Dangal ng Pilipino” Award for Outstanding Service Across Sectors

August 1 , 2025 – Arise Philippines, with immense honor and profound admiration, extends its heartfelt congratulations to Vice Admiral Alexander P. Pama (Ret.), former Co-Chairperson of Arise Philippines and current esteemed Board Member of ARISE Global, on being unanimously selected as a distinguished recipient of the prestigious “DANGAL NG PILIPINO: SA PAG-AGAPAY SA LIGTAS NA SAMBAYANAN” Award during the Dangal Bantayog ng Katatagan Hall of Fame of Disaster Resilience Champions Ceremony held on 01 August 2025.

In conjunction with the National Disaster Resilience Month 2025 Culminating Activity, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), as the executive arm of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), led this special ceremony to recognize Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) partner organizations and individuals who have provided crucial support to national resilience-building efforts.

Representing both the public and private sectors, VADM Pama has played an indispensable role in fostering collaborative initiatives, offering vital leadership that has significantly contributed to a safer and more resilient Filipino community across all sectors. Throughout his distinguished career, VADM Pama has generously applied his expertise in DRR, notably through the institutionalization of the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment-Action Programs and Protocols (PDRA-APP), a landmark achievement that has greatly enhanced the country’s disaster preparedness and reduced casualty and damage rates. Additionally, he championed the harmonization of government and multi-sector efforts in DRRM through effective coordination and integration during his tenure at the NDRRMC and OCD.

In the private sector, he has been pivotal in mobilizing support for disaster resilience, promoting DRRM as a key business strategy and driving science- and technology-based resilience initiatives through the ARISE Philippines network.

During his acceptance speech, Sir Pama expressed, “This award is not only a recognition of individual effort but a symbol of our collective commitment to building a stronger, safer nation.
