Private Sector Steps Up: ARISE Philippines and SM Prime Train Cebu Managers on Disaster Management thru Incident Command System

CEBU CITY — In a strong display of private sector leadership in resilience, ARISE Philippines, in partnership with SM Prime Holdings, convened the Incident Command System Executive Course (ICSEC) in Cebu to equip SM mall managers , ARISE Members and nearby area representatives with advanced crisis response skills last September 4, 2025.

The program reflects a significant commitment from ARISE Philippines to establish a unified private sector doctrine, ensuring that responses during emergencies are aligned with government protocols and grounded in the right procedures and calls. By creating a shared framework, ARISE reinforces its mission to harmonize private and public sector efforts in protecting lives, assets, and continuity of operations.

During the training, participants shared real-world experiences in crisis management, which were then contextualized by ICS-certified instructors. These seasoned cadres guided managers on how to act decisively under pressure, blending technical frameworks with practical wisdom.

The course produced 39 graduates, adding to the growing pool of crisis-prepared leaders within SM’s nationwide network and ARISE members based in the region. For SM Prime, the initiative underscores its dedication not only to mall operations but also to community safety, positioning its malls as well-prepared hubs in the event of emergencies.

This milestone was made possible with the support of the Office of Civil Defense Region 7, whose collaboration ensures that private sector preparedness is aligned with national resilience priorities.

For business leaders, the ICSEC is a reminder that resilience is not an abstract value but a corporate responsibility. As ARISE Philippines continues to drive doctrine-based training across the country, the private sector is being called to act and not as spectators but as frontliners in building a safer and more responsive nation.
