ARISE Philippines, SM Prime Launch Cebu Leg to Expand Private Sector Role in Mainstreaming Resilience and Life-Saving through CPR

Cebu, Philippines — Arise Philippines, together with SM Prime Holdings, launched the first Hands-Only CPR Training Campaign in Cebu SM Supermalls on September 5–6, 2025, in partnership with the Department of Health–Health Emergency Management Service (DOH-HEMS), DOH Region 7 Center for Health Development, and the Cebu City Fire Station.

The campaign was conducted in SM City Cebu, SM City Consolacion, and JCentre Mall, and was designed primarily for mall tenants who serve as frontliners in commercial establishments. Participants were trained to perform hands-only CPR, a critical skill in responding to sudden cardiac arrest while waiting for professional medical assistance.

In SM City Consolacion, the training also reached mall-goers during operating hours, allowing the public to observe and learn alongside the workforce. This dual approach highlighted the program’s commitment to both workplace preparedness and wider community awareness.

Trainers from DOH-Region 7 and the Cebu City Fire Station noted that this was the first private sector–led CPR training initiative they have joined in the region, describing it as an example of how businesses can expand their role in public safety.

The Cebu leg marks the program’s expansion outside Metro Manila, signaling the start of broader private sector engagement in building safer communities. ARISE Philippines has called on more organizations to participate in upcoming campaigns, reinforcing the collective effort to mainstream life-saving skills and strengthen resilience nationwide.
