21 March 2025 | ARISE Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies – Philippine Network (ARISE PH) expressed commitment to the “Forests for Life: 5M Trees by 2028” program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) during the Memorandum of Signing (MOU) last 21 MARCH 2025. ARISE PH Co-Chair for the Private Sector Engr. Liza B. Silerio joined the roster of foundations and associations that advocate for forest conservation, restoration of biodiversity and climate change mitigation.
DENR campaigns to cultivate five million trees across key provinces, contributing to the sequestration of 3.5 million tons of carbon by 2038. This reforestation effort aligns with the 2025 Operational Plan of ARISE PH that aims to further sustainability through disaster risk reduction efforts and climate change initiatives.
During the event, DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga highlighted the importance of focused and intensive reforestation efforts in combating the effects of climate change, especially in areas prone to flooding and watersheds. The “Forests for Life” initiative will focus on six key provinces: Ilocos Norte, Rizal, Leyte, Bataan, Bukidnon, and Lanao del Norte.
By fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, ARISE PH can contribute valuable expertise and resources to the program. This includes raising awareness about the importance of reforestation for climate resilience, mobilizing private sector support, and providing technical assistance in areas such as community engagement and resource mobilization.
Through its involvement, ARISE Philippines aims to leverage its network and expertise to ensure the long-term success of the “Forests for Life” initiative, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable future for communities across the Philippines.
