SUMMARY:2022 Asia Pacific Science and Technology Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction
DESCRIPTION:The 2022 Asia Pacific Science and Technology Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction will be held on 7-8 April 2022\, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (PHT)\, via Zoom. This conference is organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)\, Office of Civil Defense (OCD)\, Department of Science and Technology (DOST)\, National Resilience Council (NRC)\, UNDRR Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (UNDRR-ROAP)\, UNDRR Asia Pacific Science and Technology Advisory Group (AP-STAG)\, and ARISE-Philippines. \nWith increasing urbanization\, climate change\, and other anthropogenic pressures\, many urban areas are becoming hotspots of disasters. Adaptive governance for resilience is becoming a “new normal” and the key challenge is how we can apply “science-based adaptive governance” as opposed to “ad-hoc adaptive governance”. This two-day conference will provide great opportunities to further advance the application of science and technology in disaster risk reduction at global\, regional\, national\, and local levels. \nFor more information and to register to participate virtually\, visit www.resiliencecouncil.ph/event/apstcdrr

SUMMARY:Resilience Hackathon: Co-creating Solutions for Resilience in the Built Environment
DESCRIPTION:In the face of increasing and intensifying extreme weather events\, we must co-create solutions for resilience in the built environment. Join the Resilience Hackathon\, developed by the International Finance Corporation\, with support from the Government of the Netherlands and the Australian Government\, in partnership with ARISE-Philippines\, ANZCham\, Australia Alumni Communities Philippines\, Australia Global Alumni\, DOST Phivolcs\, and the AIM Dado Banatao Incubator. \nWe’re looking for realistic\, future-proof\, scalable\, and replicable solutions (technologies\, products\, methods\, or business concepts) with a strong alignment with the SDGs. Solutions should leverage the Building Resilience Index and GeoRisk PH Platforms and must be project-based in an area devastated by Typhoon Odette. On December 16\, 2021\, Typhoon Odette hit the Philippines and caused devastation in the provinces of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands in Mindanao\, in five provinces of Visayas\, and in the island of Palawan in Luzon\, causing more than $1Bn in damages across shelters\, infrastructure\, and agriculture. \nJoin us for the Resilience Hackathon official launch on April 8\, 3PM to know more https://app.glueup.com/event/53087/register/
