DESCRIPTION:Following the theme for this year’s IDRR Day celebration\, ARISE-Philippines would like to kick-off a podcast production by highlighting one of the good practices in DRR launched and maintained by the private sector. \nMark your calendars and learn from the experts this International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction on October 13\, 2022!\n\nThe first episode features Dr. Sherdon Niño Uy as he shares Manila Observatory’s works on early warning systems and innovation on high-definition clean energy\, climate and weather forecasts in the Philippines.\n\nLearn with Prof. Mario Rodriguez of Ateneo de Zamboanga University as he shares about a project he led called ALeRTO System or Automated Water Level and Rain using near Real-Time Observation. It is a DOST funded innovation that was included in the Top 50 shortlisted nominees of the UN Sasakawa Award in 2019 which recognizes good practices and initiatives undertaken by institutions\,\nindividuals and groups that have best contributed to increase the participation of dependent people who are disproportionally affected by disasters in disaster risk reduction policies and practices. ALeRTO has been implemented in 10 pilot LGUs in Zamboanga and is now scaling up to Luzon and Visayas.\n\n#EarlyWarningForAll\n#DRRDay
